In case you’ve been living under a rock, actors Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell have been making headlines recently for their undeniable chemistry amidst promoting their new film Anyone But You. Their chemistry didn’t come without controversy, however, because both Powell and Sweeney were in relationships at the time the rumors were circulating. Love or hate them they looked great together, leading to a lot of excitement around their film. However, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but Glenn Powell just recently admitted it was all an act.
In a recent interview with Business Insider, Powell gave Sweeney “All the credit” for the capitalization of those dating rumors. Saying, “I don’t have the mental capacity to pull anything like this off, but she’s very smart. She’s very smart,” Powell also said, “And look, Sydney and I do have authentic chemistry.” Yes, they do.
However, leaning into these rumors wasn’t the easiest for Powell. Months ago when the rumors first started circulating Powell had split with his girlfriend Gigi Paris. Although coincidental, the breakup only added more flames to this rumor’s fire. Powell added, “The only reason it made things harder for me to lean into that stuff was that I was going through a very real breakup amidst a promotional tour,” he explained, “I was with someone that I really loved and cared about and was trying to kind of make sense of a lot of stuff.”
His costar Sweeney seemed to have an easier time because she was and still is engaged to fiancé Jonathan Davino, who was a producer on the film. Powell continued, “It was a lot easier for Sydney to lean into something like that because she’s in a very committed and wonderful relationship and she’s very happy. So it was a little harder for me.” Despite what other difficulties came from the situation, Powell did praise Sweeney for her “Impressive sense of marketing.”
Looks like things are all good between these two! And I don’t know about you, but regardless of the rumors, I cannot wait to see the film Anyone But You out now in theaters!
